The cricket is the borough’s symbol since Miguel Hidalgo is home to Chapultepec Park, whose name in the Aztec language Nahuatl means “Hill of the Crickets.”

Miguel Hidalgo is located in the northwest part of the Federal District, bordering Azcapotzalco, Cuauhtémoc, Benito Juárez, Álvaro Obregón, Cuajimalpa de Morelos; as well as the Mexico State municipalities of Naucalpan de Juárez y Huixquilucan
